Meet the Beavers

Cari Lekker Chaos -- Amsterdam, NL

I'm originally from California, but I moved to Amsterdam four years ago. I first discovered Camp Beaverton in 2007, and decided to be a resident Beaver in 2008. I love my life. I love the Beavers, and can't wait to see you in 2010!!

A.Melo -- Amsterdam, NL

A Dutch-Israel-Califonia mix, home is currently in Amsterdam, Holland. Fresh off the European burn event Nowhere, and having met a number of great Beavers already, I'm looking forward to my first BM with you all!

Bucket -- Boston, Mass.

Hello Beavers!!! This will be my 10th and best burn evah!! I am also this year's Mayor of Camp Beaverton. I have made an extra effort throughout the year to visit about 50 plus beavers in Europe and the U.S. I started burning in 1999 and worked a lot on the man himself. As the event gets larger and defines itself differently for me, I am so grateful for Camp Beaverton 2007,'08,'09, '10. It has truly become my home on the playa! Love and Dust, Bucket xoxo

Bonnie -- Seattle

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." I'll meet you there.

Shannon -- Boston, MA

Relishing the Now; always looking for fun and adventure; fascinated by other people's experiences; a lover of art in its various forms - written, spoken, visual; drawn to nature and the outdoors; slave to the Beave; anything else you wanna know - just ask.

Mitch -- Vancouver, B.C. Canada, but my heart is in San Francisco

Not a day goes by that I do not dream of the Playa. Camp Beaverton is simply an oasis of beauty. Join us.

shayna -- the east bay

Mama Bucket -- Henderson,NV.

Mom to Mayor Bucket, supporter of all things Camp Beaverton stands for, and full of Love for ALL the Girls and Women who Grace this World with their Beauty and Presence and Spirit!

Selacious -- Brooklyn, New York

This will be my 3rd year on the playa and 2nd year with CB! woo-hoo!!! Being involved with CB/BM last year was a total transformative blast both on the playa, and in my life off the playa and I can't wait to see what this year will bring!!!

Diamond -- London, England

Enthusiastic British Burner here. I've been coming to BRC for a few years now but since I found it last year, Beaverton has become my favourite place on the playa. Can wait to see all the Beavers again.

Jenny -- Brooklyn, NYC

What up, Beavers! This is my first time at Burning Man and my first time with the beavs, obviously. Can't wait to experience this thing first-hand!!! I'm an artist, writer, chef, Jewish educator, and all-around mama to my peeps and the world. To that end, I'm jumping in to head up the Health & Safety committee this year-- look out for a medical/drug/allergy survey coming your way soon via the Beaverton Google group!

REiD aka "Man-Beav" -- New York City and Oakland, CA

Beaverton Mayor '09/'10 "Bucket" nicknamed me the "Man-Beav" and it stuck. In 2002, during my first Burn, my awesome dyke friend, Susan, complained that the playa dust was jamming her Gay-dar and she charged me with the mighty task of creating a lesbian/queer women's camp to make life easier on her. It took two years to do, but in 2004, with the extraordinary help and efforts of our original campers, Camp Beaverton for Wayward Girls made it's groundbreaking debut in Black Rock City, leaving me the proudest Man-Beav on the planet... I'm eternally grateful to every Beaver and non-Beaver who has contributed to Camp Beaverton, it's growth, and all the legends! It is an honor to continue to be a part of such a herstorical camp and I look forward to this year's Burn and chillaxing!

Driver / Allison -- Oakland, CA

I'm a four year veteran and former Mayor of Beaverton. I'm a queer, dyke, poly, partnered, fairie, geek, introvert, and fabulous at it all. I am in love with Camp Beaverton and the safe-space we create on the playa for all women who are looking for a moment to breathe without expectation of behavior, identity, or politics. To provide a space where women can just 'be,' is a revolutionary of which I am happy to be a part.

Sugar -- NYC

I have looked but I cannot find the definitive phrase. (Elizabeth Block) I write. I do other things too.

Asha -- Washington, DC

I am a PROUD BEAVER living on the East Coast. I love queers, healthy eating, working out, and watching my kittehs! This year I'm Beaverton Workshop Coordinator and look forward to an AMAZING burn! P.S. the talented Daniella took this photo.

Frenchy -- NYC

Impatiente de decouvrir et vivre mon premier burning man (if you want to know the translation, ask me or Sugar...hehe)

AmyJ -- Portland, OR

OH: Transitions readily between uber g33k, snarky punk rock girl, wanton hussy, and the sweet girl next door. Your mileage may vary.

Foxy -- San Francisco

I am a small British dandyqueer with a big smile, I tell lot of mediocre stories that some how make people laugh, perhaps it's the accent or charity who knows. I will be embodying my animal totems this year, the fox and the horse! I am giddy about this year's burn!

Mirkat (unless another name feels more fitting this year) -- Portland

Hey Beavers and Blenders, It's a good day...I just figured out how to make my profile. I'm so excited to meet you all and grateful to be a part of this community. This is my second burn and first time with the CBGB crew. Up in Portland I'm an acrobat, therapist, and fancy myself a gender activist. My roommate Jared just told me I should be sure and let you know about the side of me that enjoys pickled beets, genital pirating, and doll carnage.

Daniella -- Boston

You can find me through my lens. :)

Tanya -- Denver, CO

ronin aka laura -- wildcard, pacific northwest (currently portland)

2011 will be my 6th year at the burn and 3rd year with beaverton. i camped with the beavers their first two years of existence which makes me an O.B.-- "original beaver" (*throws up lesbo gang signs*). i am also pleased to serve as your first official camp beaverton slave. i'm a writer, lover, fighter, biker, and eater of pie.

Jillian -- Vancouver

It will be my first time at BurningMan and I'm glad I found my way to the Beavers.

Sarah Baracks -- Washington, DC

In my world, everyone's a pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies. -Horton Hears a Who

Tim -- Boston

This will be my second journey to the playa. I was Bukets side kick in 2009, and instantly fell in love with the playa. Due to factors out of my control, I had to skip out on 2010, however, this year I will be Mitch's side kick and I am preparted to work hard to make 2011 CBGB the best camp/burn ever. I am very excited to reunite with BRC and my dusty friends, while making new connections. See you all at home!

Rebekah -- San Francisco, CA

I am a free-range theologian, dirt/nature worshiper, free loving, tree hugging, and i do my best to not use and re-use plastic. I am NOT a vegetarian, bleeding heart, or communist.
